nevah heard of the 1st 2...

but lagu-bagu....iknow that term...

like my mom used to tell my bros....'all kinda lagu-bagu yuh bring home'..or 'gat fuh company'

i think dharam-pukney conveys the same message...

but to translate????? meaning 'a nobody'

lacking ambition??? idler??? someone who wastes time..and life...????

ok what about JHA-RAY??? (now this has 2 meanings...not looking for the thing u do to get rid of 'spirits' by 'brooming' someone!)

JHATTAH!

Jah-tah-ha

 KAAH-KAY??

leh me gie yuh clue fuh jhaloka...lil babies most have them..nice to pinch or bite!!!

and remember DULAAR!!

jhaloka = cheeks

Abidees: I think you hindi translations will corrupt creolese.  Last nite an indian friend tried to tell me about "gothay" and "chungkay" when i decribed how we make dhal. (she was trying to get my Dhal recipe but i told her it's in the process as well).

Anyway, hindi is tied to order and hierarchy whether our creolese is more open and innovative.

Would u agree?

Na(m)an I agree with you because it is sometimes confusing when interpiting hindi and (Guyanese) creolese. Ghotay and choukay are also methods of cooking dhal.
