The Headmaster of the Leonora Secondary School, Mr. Gurdat Persaud, commented that success of the school is because of the hard work of the students, the dedication of the teachers and the dynamic support of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). He also stated that regular class assessments for students provide teachers with knowledge of the area that the students need to improve on.
He also said that the students are motivated with various rewards for success, such as a badge that signifies the child was successful at month end examinations. Persaud further stated that the progress of the school is attributed to the well-rounded curriculum that the school offers. The school takes part in various cultural activities and is also one of the schools that will be participating at one of The Caribbean Festival of Arts (CARIFESTA) shows at Uitvlugt later in August.

The Grade six teachers, Latchmin Gopal, Narpatty Persaud and Priya Sukhdeo are the teachers responsible for the accomplishment of the students. The teachers agree that reading is an important factor that contributes to the progress of the student’s academic performance.

According to Latchmin Gopal, who is the senior teacher of Grade Six, hard work, dedication, home study, research projects for the students and motivational talks that she engages in everyday with the students are part of the strategy she employs to assist the students to focus and become successful. She also stated that parent’s involvement and support is imperative to the student’s achievement of great things. And healthy competition among the students promotes improved performance. Gopal said resources such as a refurbished library and a laboratory are assets needed to ensure the improved performance of the students. She stated that the majority of the top achievers are girls and this was due to the fact that boys are by nature more playful and tend to focus less. However she said that this could be different if parents engage in productive talks with the children at a younger age.

The parent of one of the school's top student, Maureen Rampertab stated that the school is an exceptional one with committed and experienced teachers. Mrs. Rampertab also said that the school encourages parents to motivate children and help them to balance work and study. Other parents further commented that there must be an active involvement in the students' school life on the part on each parent, so as to be able to contribute to their success. They also stated that they believed all parents are proud of the students' achievements because the children preformed to the best of their abilities.
